Rozige Maanvissen (Rosy Moonfish)

I'm glad I was able to contribute in a small way to a new theatre piece with an entirely new version of For Mattia for marimba and alto saxophone. Rozige Maanvissen is a production by Noorderwind Producties. 

The performance Rozige Maanvissen is a musical journey through a poetic grieving process. A moving search for comfort, acceptance, and life itself. Free improvisations alternate with spirited tangos and serene choral melodies. It’s a performance where the sounds of saxophone, marimba, and percussion blend so seamlessly with poetry that they offer new perspectives on a deeply charged subject like death.

The poems featured in the performance come from the eponymous poetry collection Rozige Maanvissen by poet Sytse Jansma. This collection was awarded the C. Buddingh’ Prize for the best Dutch-language debut of 2024.
