The third CD of this saxophone quartet is a compact but strongly spiced dish that is served with audible pleasure. With the three-part Block Attack, composer Douwe Eisenga (1961) takes care of the kick-off. A sophisticated balance between minimalist melodic cells and a tight ostinato sets the pace. This makes room for long lines in the second part (Arch) that functions as a bridge for the swinging third part in which the four saxophonists jump around like young dogs.
